Interviews

I have three interviews set up as of right now. I already did one, but we both agreed that it's not a good idea to post it here. I'll just put it in the finished project. He's a little more on the "national" side and not so local (can't wait to share!!). But keep your eyes open for those upcoming interviews. I will post them definitely sometime this week =)

Toys for Tots Benefit

If you missed last night's show, well then, you really missed a lot. First of all, this event was held at the Southgate House. If you've never been there, you have to go! This is one of Cincinnati's (Newport) venues that gives you room to breathe. The venue is a four-level mansion built in 1814 by Richard Southgate. The last time I was at the Southgate house was about ten years ago. I can tell you that this place still amazes me to this day; almost nothing changing. Definitely one of Newport's most historical buildings. According to Southgate legend, the house was built by British prisoners of war from the war of 1812 being held in Newport. The venue takes in an entire city block. Through everything building up around the area, Southgate still stands in its original form. Beautiful venue. You really must go if you haven't, and if you have, then go again! A venue that you can never tire from...

Now on to the good stuff. The music! Boy oh boy was that one show that should not have been missed!

We started out with Chakras. The entire band is very powerful, however, Andrea. Andrea is an all-around great person. She is gorgeous, she's very friendly and her voice - Andrea's voice is amazing! Please check them out at www.myspace.com/chakrasband. You must see this band live.
Then we moved on to Pulse 8. These guys had the best crowd reaction of all the bands that played last night. Immediately when Pulse 8 took the stage, the floor was filled with guys and girls both showing their appreciation for the talent of these boys. Another very powerful band. You can check them out at www.myspace.com/pulse8.
American Hardcore. An old band with a fresh singer. Well accepted in Cincinnati, the new singer not only sings good, but he's hot too! Jim's been playing guitar long enough to have fun with it and this is an over-all very entertaining band. Also very good crowd reaction. I picked up a CD last night from these guys FINALLY! YAY! Check out American Hardcore at their very new myspace profile at www.myspace.com/americanhardcore.
The Screaming Kings' singer is phenominal. Melodic almost operatic voice comes through straight from the gut. And he's got the band to back him up. Please take a look at these guys at www.myspace.com/thescreamingkings.
The kicker to the night was Lorenzo. I had already gotten my girlfriends excited to see these guys by listening to their CD all the way to the venue. Great response. The crowd thinned out by this time in the night and I have no clue as to why. Those unlucky people missed the best part of the show! Check out Lorenzo on their myspace profile at www.myspace.com/lorenzolounge.

The crowd was thick last night and brought in a generous donation to the Toys for Tots foundation. =) I'm sorry to those of you who couldn't make the show.

Random Thoughts

A few things, guys. First of all, I know I'm not perfect on these blogs yet. This is my DRAFT area.. my learning tool. So please, I ask again, bare with me.
These blogs are getting hits. I have 21 saved messages on my answering service at home and I'm reading and responding to about three hundred emails a day. There's obviously a lot of reading and writing going on, so keep in mind that these things take time. I'm trying my best. My fingers haven't stopped moving all day as of yet and I was up until 4a.m. this morning doing the same thing.
K. Now that that's out of the way...

If you have a show you are playing and you don't see it here, then email me. I'm only covering the Saturday and Sunday shows at the moment. I will need to know the name of the venue where you are playing, the address of the venue, your band name, time doors open/music starts, ages permitted and cost of cover or tickets. If you want to throw in anything extra like your drink specials or anything like that, that would be appreciated as well.

I'm hoping to put together a most comprehensive guide to what's happening in Cincinnati this weekend. Realize that this will take time and your help and patience. But the pay off is that we won't have to sit around going, "what's going on this weekend?" We can come to one place and know just what is happening. One place shopping LOL! *only it's free*
isn't that a musician's favorite word? "FREE?!" - though there are some good ads on this page. I saw one that said you can meet local musicians in Cincinnati. I checked out the site. It looked pretty cool. I also looked at the Newport on the levee one. It was okay.

I've enabled comments to be allowed from anyone that doesn't have an account, so if you want to leave a comment, I'd like that a bunches.

Ok now for the important stuff. In Cincinnati today, it was a bone-chilling 11 degrees this morning when most of us were getting up to go to work and some of us getting in from work *richard*. I've sat here working in my chilly house (heating with space heaters - joy) and watched the temp raise to a mere 22 degrees. I don't know if you realize what it takes for these guys to get out there with their equipment and get to a venue to put on a rockin good show for you guys. All you have to do to go see them is sit in your warm house while your cars warms up, walk to the warm venue and drink beers and have fun. I have talked to a few of the people today that will be out there playing for you guys. The most common denominator is "it's cold, trace." So you know what? Get up off your butts and get out there and see some shows. I can guarantee that no matter what you choose, this weekend is going to ROCK ON DUDE! Please, show some support.

*i wanted to go to the warrant show sooooooo bad tonight. but alas, i am stuck in the house.* =(
*i appologize if your show is not listed here. you need to write to me (even if you have a FRIEND that's playing out, email me and give me the information i posted earlier) and let me know to add you*

Interviews

I've had the opportunity to talk to a couple of really cool people. Everyone I've wanted to talk to so far has been totally eager to tell you all a little piece of their world. I'm also venturing in to customizing this space. Might take me a minute to learn it all, so please bare with me. I'll put some things together about the people I've spoken with and I'll be posting more soon. So stay tuned!

Thanks to all of you that have helped me with the information I've needed! It's so much appreciated.

*hugs*

As we venture in to the Cincinnati music scene

Something that I have always enjoyed is the Cincinnati Music Scene. I skipped a few years there for a while of going out to shows and had almost forgotten what I had been missing. Hey! the Cincinnati Music Scene is really something to be proud about. My personal preference is the rock scene, so I'm going to concentrate on that throughout the blogs that I'll be posting.
I'll share with you some of the shows that I've been to over the past couple of years. There's some really good ones like A Nervous Wreck, Triad, Ripchord Strangler, American Hardcore, The Screaming Kings and many many more! After you read about them, I'm sure you're going to want to get out there and visit for yourself. So I'll be sure to post upcoming events as well throughout the entire city. I plan on getting some interviews with some of Cincinnati's "hottest" musicians complete with photos and possibly music clips as well, so be sure to stay tuned for all of the excitement!
